Absolutely fantastic news! I was a nbit worried about you for a sec, but you've had such incredible luck along the whole way that this just had to end nicely! Well I'm so glad to hear that that's taken care of and that you can now officially enjoy your new home.

Following my robbery at the airport on departure and loss of sealed envelope I went into the District Office at Boston yesterday.

There was one other English speaking person there who was a Canadian who'd forgotton his AP when coming back. There were about 6 other people but I don't have a clue what they were there for.

I had a list of everything that would have been in the sealed envelope and took them along. The immigration officer was a really nice woman and we went through everything I had. She took the documents and went away for about 30 mins. After that she came out with my passport that had been taken at immigration at the airport and "Landed me".

All in, the process took about 2 hours. Yet again I found immigration to be really great and a pleasure to deal with. So now I'm officially "in"!

I'm sure everyone here does it, but remember to take copies of everything you have to take to the embassy with you, in case anything happens with your sealed envelope. Embassies don't keep copies.

I am so happy to hear it all went well

Thanks everyone. It was a real relief. The immigration people on the deferred inspection desk are all supervisors and looked very stern until you actually go up to them.

The docs I had which were in the sealed envelope were as follows.

I-134 or financial details if not providing I134
Original I129f showing approved (I took NOA's 1 and 2 in lieu)
Medical results ( I got a copy from Spain which was sealed)
Police reports. (Again I had a copy sent to me and had retained a copy)
Birth Cert. Luckily I had a load notarised before I left so handed one of those in.
ADIT photos x2.

I also took along the DS forms which weren't in the sealed envelope. It was explained to me that the Visa itself is issued by the Dept of State and those forms get sent directly to them when your visa is issued. I had them with me but Immigration didn't want them.

If anyone is going into the District Office in Boston for EAD there are really really long lines. Get there as near to 7am or before as you can and be prepared for a long wait.

Congrats, sibsie! Welcome to Boston! Glad to hear it all worked out in the
end. I was just wondering what happened. Glad you had a good experience at
the USCIS office. My fiance went down there a couple of weeks ago to ask a
question and the woman at the info desk was really nasty to her.

Just a reminder. The Boston office no longer processes AOS applications on
a walk in basis. So if you were counting on getting AP and EAD on the same
day (we were), you can forget it.

Good luck with the rest of the process.

Allow me to nitpick. But I think what she did at the Boston office WAS a
deferred inspection.
