Default DCF/POE timelines ...............

I was wondering, come January when I reckon Ill be emmigrating by, I
shall be going to Baltimore BWI via Newark, so Newark will be my first
POE. How long should it take (without hitches) for them to see me, and
attach the paper green card?

I ask coz connecting flights take 90 mins or so between Newark - BWI.

Thanks

My wife and I landed at Newark in March 2001 with her spouse visa in
hand. Passport control was not crowded at all and she went to the
citizens queue with me after I asked. In secondary inspection we waited
about 20 minutes or perhaps less while people in uniform with seemingly
nothing to do walked around and chatted with one another. I was about to
ask someone about the delay when a member of staff showed up

My wife's brown envelope was torn open, checked, she was fingerprinted
(index only), her US address verified and the passport was stamped (you
won't get a paper greencard), "A" number written it (make sure this is
done). This took 10 minutes or so. There were few people in secondary
inspection. One was a man being grilled for having overstayed 2 days on
his last visa waiver visit

We had no wait in customs and made our connection with time to spare but
I can't recall how much time in between flights we had. My guess is it
was over 2 hours since we just weren't sure how long it would take.

Newark is a large airport and you will probably have to connect in
different terminal. The construction there that laster for years seems
to have been be completed and there is a tram that runs often between
the terminal

90 minutes may be cutting it close

Ive just re-checked my flight times, and its actually 2h 10mins
difference in the flights, arriving in Newark from Birmingham, then
going Newark-Baltimore (BWI).

Is this ample time to have my I-1551 stamped etc?

Im leaving for hol to Bwi next week, so will be able to tell exactly
how much time is *spare*.

Just wondered how long everyone was held up whilst being
fingerprinted, stamp in passport etc

Ta

My husband, a Brummie, , came thru Newark this past Saturday to activate his K3. Just to be on the safe side we had his connecting flight onto Atlanta with a 3 hour layover. It was very quick and painless, he called me as soon as he cleared Customs there. In reality he had more time than he needed but you never know, your transatlantic flight could be late, luggage taking forever to be unloaded etc. Of course they didn't take his brown envelopoe but that's another story........ Anyway he flew back to Brum tonight.

Not long. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon. It depends on how many
people are working in secondary inspection and how many people are sent
there for extra processing

Default POE question

Our POE is LAX and we have 1 hr 50 minutes. Is this OK?? We are changing from United's terminal (wherever their flights from London land) to Southwest's area of the airport. It was this or a FIVE hour layover .

Of course we'll have the secondary immigration, customs, and changing terminals to do.

For someone who doesnt have 'conditions' to remove as part of the visa/POE experience, how long does immigration take? Anyone else been thru LAX on an IR-1?

Oh yes, and with the visa in hand, does the hubby go thru the US citizen/resident queue with me and kids (all but hubby have US passports) or thru the visitor's queue?

I remember the time they tried to shove us all thru the visitor's queue (b/c 1 of our party of 4 had non US documentation) at DFW and I was like AHEM!! I'm American I'm going thru the Americans queue dammit!! haha . They soon sorted that.
