FWIW, I've read lost of reports from others in London who presented their own copies of the returns at the interview (under similar late-filed circumstances) and they never mentioned this as an issue--if you wanted to rush things up at all.

The worst case outcome would be that they would hold visa issuance if they really really really wanted transcripts and you wouldn't be delayed any further than you will be now. The best case is that you could conclude your case much more quickly (if that is important to you, which it doesn't have to be).

Generally in a DCF case, they are more interested in how you are going to be making your FUTURE money, not your tax returns.

Now I am in a dilemma..... do we send the checklist off before we get paperwork back from the IRS or do we wait...
My wonderful hubby said its my decision.

Personally I'd wait until I have everything in hand before sending off the checklist. It wouldn't be good if you send the checklist, and still don't have what you need from IRS on the day you need to attend the interview. Just my 2 cents.

I don't know if you're near or in London, but you can go to the IRS office at the embassy and they will process them then and there and give you proof of filing. When we were dcfing they made me run over there and file the last yrs 1040 during the interview! The IRS was closed, but they actually called over there and made them open for me which was SO nice. (I had to file a "0" tax return since I didn't work and earned nothing while the previous yr I did so they needed proof or something.)

We now have everything on th echecklist apart from the Police check which was sent 2 weeks ago. Do you think it is worth sending our check list in or should we wait for the completed police check? any suggestions ?

Helpppppppppp.... On the checklist form...

Applicants statement...

I intend to apply

1. Alone

2. Together with my spouse

Do I check 1 or 2?

And do I send the checklist itself in with the statement or just the statement?

sorry having a blonde moment....

I believe it's asking if you attend to accompany your dh to the interview.
