DCF (I-864) Question

Quick Question:

Thinking of going with the DCF option, because we live in the UK, and I'm a US Citizen with British husband. I wanted to know about the I-864 form. I did not make enough money last year to sponsor my husband, however, my family is willing to sponsor my husband. What will be expected out of me in order to bring him to the US? Since my family will be sponsoring him.... Will I need to show any financial support or will my families income alone be acceptable?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

hi, I moved your post to the marriage-based visa forum and will refer you to the 'DCF' wiki for London: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/DCF_I-...led_In_London_

You will need to complete an I-864 regardless of your income, have your US income tax returns (reporting worldwide income) and have strong evidence of your intention to reestablish your domicile in the US.

I-864 topics covered in depth in the wiki; have a read there first. :)

If you have a joint sponsor who earns enough to cover their own household size plus the immigrant, then you don't need to show your own financial support, although you do need to complete your own I-864.

You say you didn't make enough money last year....but it's not really last year that counts...it's *current* income. That said, if your current income is not earned in the USA, then it won't count anyway.

Observation: not a bad wiki -- although not raised by OP and the wiki discusses it -- the "domicile" issue seems to be a real biggie these days.
