DCF in Brazil

I am looking into what it takes to do a DCF in Brazil. The process for the
DCF seems well documented on this board as well as the listed websites
(thanks everyone). However, I need to get married to my Fiance in Brazil
before the DCF. Does anyone know what information and documents I need for
a legal marriage to qualify for DCF?
During my past visit to Brazil, I brought legalized (by the Brazilian
consulate) birth cert. and divorce decree. However, that was not enough.
What else do I need? How do I get a police cert. for myself in America?
Thanks everyone

Talk to the Cartorio first down there. They will tell you exactly what you need, then have the Brazilian consolate here in the US "translate" into english what the documents required by the Cartorio are here, their american equivilant. As far as the police records go, you won't be able to get them as far as my county police are concerned, but you might want to go through another Cartorio, because they might not require the police records.

I remember your question from yesterday about the visitor visa...Just curious, but why do you want to marry in Brazil? My fiancee told me this is a long process there, because of waiting on paper work there...It takes their government longer to process stuff there than it does here...And then you will have a longer wait through the I-130 process, than if you went with a I-129f...At least that's my understanding of it...Could be wrong, but I talked with a lady from my congressman's office and she told me that NVC spends a lot more time on the I-130's than I-129f. You should check into all your opptions more carefully...

techie2c, the OP is talking about DCF, a very good option, where the I-130 is filed and processed at the Consulate abroad instead of at NVC. If you're not familiar with DCF, suggest you read the DocSteen pages about it.

I read on one of the reference web pages that the "Direct Consular Filing"
is the quickest, most direct route. The qualifier is that the marriage
process is already complete. Your information about how long it takes to
complete a marriage in Brazil must be added in to the entire process.
Thanks.

techie2c you dont have to be in Brazil all the time before the marriage. Your fiancée can initiate the process with someone you issue a power of attorney document. You just have to be there in the wedding day. Or you can start the process with her an let your representant sign for you at the wedding day. I guess the first option is better.
