Default Customs declaration form

Hi All

Just a quick question I hope someone can shed some light on. I've been trying to call CBP all day but it seems like everyone else has the same idea as me - I was left on hold for an eternity.

Anyway, I hope this is a relatively simple one... I travel over on my K1 next week and have been looking into the whole customs declaration form (6059B) and was unsure as to what I have to list on it. Do I list every individual item, even clothes which are not brand new, socks, shirts, jacket? I read that once I exceed $100 worth of items I need to pay tax on them, is this true? I'll be taking taking over mainly clothes anyway so nothing major in there.

I'm just a little unsure and don't want to get on the wrong side of anyone at the airport by getting it wrong!

Many thanks

No, you don't have to list your personal items.

I believe you're considered a "Nonresident/First-Time Immigrant".

Lifted from this page but the direct link never works. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/...ations/travel/

No. If specifically asked, then simply list: "clothing".

You do not pay tax (duty) on any imported items that you have personally owned for one year or more. Clothes, of course, pretty much get a free ride anyway. When I moved to the US on my K-1, I imported my car and didn't have to pay one cent.
