CR1 Visa POE Question
Hi All (again!)
Having received my CR1 immigrant husband visa I have just realised that although my permanent residence will be in San Francisco my flight from Manchester UK will arrive first in Newark
and then a connection flight will get us to San Francisco. (since the connection flight is classed as internal), does this mean that our POE is Newark? or can we continue towards our final destination before we meet the immigration officers?
You see, in our case the problem is that there is only 1.30m available to catch the connection flight. If we have our POE interview in Newark we could miss the connection flight. Has anybody experienced this before?
The other question, and forgive my ignorance, is whether anyone has published any information relating to the POE interview for CR1 cases. Several of you suggested in the past to visit http://www.kamya.com but most of the info I managed to find there is related to K1 cases. Is the process of dealing with K1 visa holders the same with the ones holding CR1? What kind of preparation do I need?
You see in our case we are already married so I guess all we need is the stamp so I can work!
Again forgive me if I am repeating myself. Any help will be appreciated.
Regards
Antonis
PS: I am happy to discuss my experiences from the beggining (I-130) up to now CR1 and ready to travel with any new applicants.

Immigration at Newark has always been fast.
Usually, secondary inspection doesn't take long either, unless there
is a line. Tell the officer that you have a connecting flight.

There won't really be an interview in Newark. Just be sure to carry the
brown envelope in your hand luggage. You will be sent to 'secondary
inspection' and will be fingerprinted, your address in the US will be
verified and your passport will be stamped with the I-551.
How long all this will take is anyone's guess. Newark seems quite fast
but my experience is old now. My wife entered Newark with "CR1" in March
2002. I believe we arrived on a Wednesday and we were out of immigration
in less than 45 minutes. It was a slow time of day. I specifically asked
if we could go through the citizens and permanent residents line and we
were allowed to do so

ok, thanks
I will try this, my wife is American and from previous observations I remeber that she was through passport control alot faster than me.
Do they ask you any questions that I could prepare for? or is it just to double check the details and finger print me?

As for telling them you have a plane to catch, they aren't going to care. Why should they let you cut someone in line, or rush and make a mistake becuase you didn't allow enough time between flights.
