Hi All,
I'm hoping someone else here has used the CR-1 immigrant visa process for a spouse and can tell me how long the entire process takes. I've searched the forums but cannot find anything close to an answer.
Details of situation...
If someone who is a U.S. citizen gets married to a U.K. person while they are both living in the U.K., and the U.S. citizen/sponsor has been working/living in the U.K. for a couple years, then it is possible to file for a CR-1 immigration visa at the U.S. Consulate in London. I have learned that this way, using the CR-1 route, the Consulate in London does everything (adjudication).
We have considered the K-3 route, but it looks like the CR-1 might be easier and significantly faster than the 5 month (current I-129 processing time) route using the U.S. regional center.
The waiting period for the I-130 petition using the CR-1 route shows as only 5 weeks on the website (http://www.usembassy.org.uk/dhs/uscis/i130filing.html).
My question is: Does anyone know how long the process takes "after" the I-130 is processed before the spouse will actually have the Visa/green card?
Thanks very much!!

Hi dgt, Welcome to BE. ![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Definitely the CR-1 is the superior visa to the K-3.
Doing Direct Consular Filing (DCF), as you did, the entire process from filing the I-130 to getting the visa in hand is about 4 - 5 months at the moment.
Best Wishes,
Rene
