Congressional inquery

Hi All,
Does anyone know if a "congressional inquery" actually does anything to speed up your case?
I thought I read something about how if your congressman calls to just see where it's going, that does nothing. But if they start a congressional inquery that it is bound to speed up.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Sunny

No congressional enquiry yet, I'm just wondering does it help? Or do you have to be overdue for it to help?
Thanks!
Sunny

Well you should have a time limit for 90 days & once the 90 days are over you might wanna try to contact your congressmen and yes they do help you to some extent. They will atleast give you an approximate time. And can tell you where or what is going with your file...

Congressional inquiry is a waste of time.
The INS is required by statute to do it's job as described in that statute.
It takes a statute to change that. The INS cannot fail to perform it's
duties as prescribed by statute, nor can it exceed the statutes.
So what happens when a congressman calls? A note is place in your file
saying: 'congressman Joe Schmo expressed his interest in this case.' At
the end of the case the congressman's office is notified by letter that "his
constituent is finished processing."
The congressman is never allowed to speak to an examiner nor to suggest that
the statutes be changed or procedures be altered. That would be a criminal
offense. Remember what they did to Bill and Monica and he wasn't even
changing a statute!
My vote is congressmen are a waste of time. They are in my office. We do
State and Federal Medical Disability claims, using the famous 'examiners'..
:-) After years of doing this work no one has ever come to my office with
a chart and said, 'hey doc stamp this one the congressman is asking about
it." Not the chief administrator, not the head of the state department of
Human Services, not the Attorney General, not the governor.... nope. Those
letters are simply filed right on your chart where the examiner can see them
and "Ah ha! another applicant with a bother in the wholesale business!"
I'll do this case after lunch.
I'm not saying anything and I have the oldest K1 at TSC...... at least I
think I do :-(
I might observe that if enough mothers call enough examiners one of them
will be convinced that her phone call moved the INS.
I'm convinced that's how they made the INS regs. Enough monkeys at enough
typewriters!
Have a great day!
