Greetings Everyone:
Does anyone know how long it takes at the Vermont Service Center for an I 751 to be
approved? After it is approved, when can my wife apply for U.S. citizenship? We will
be married 3 years in August 2001. Thanks in advance!

Frank,
We filed an I-751 on 05/07/02. I called the VSC last week and was told that they are working on the I-751s filed back in 12/2001. Noe we have to go to the local INS office in NYC and get my wife's passport stamped. I heard that it's a nightmare. Did anybody do that in the past a month or two?
Thanks

We filled on June 2002 for the condition removal (I 751) at Vermont; my one year work permition will expire on Oct 2003. It's so strange that Vermont is STILL processing 12/2001 applications; for the last 5 months I have seen the same date of 12/2001 application with every new month update. Maybe has something to do with 11/01 events?
I am worry that I will not get the approval in time and lose my right to work; if anybody has an update regarding I 751 Vermont' processing time, please be kind to let us know; thank you

No. It is probably a matter of prioritization. My guess is that Vermont
right now put their workforce onto some other case type that was
backlogged before. It is entirely normal for some case type or another to
just sit there, and then suddenly processing will be very fast, and
another case type will be de-prioritized.
Such periods can range from weeks to months, and for some case types even
years.

Don't worry. You'll need to get your stamp renewed after the one year, but
that should not be a problem.
Also, consider applying for citizenship as soon as you are eligible. I
hear that this can speed up the I-751 processing.
