Concerned About Leaving!!!........
This is regarding my friend again:
She was here on a J1 and married a USC, she applied for AOS. She already obtained her EAD card for work and also received the traveling permit valid for one year in October 2002. But she has not had her interview yet.
She has to go back to her country in March to obtain some documents from her university, but is very concerned about any problems that she may come across in trying to return to the US!
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks on my friends behalf.
Claudia

Havent done this before, but going to.
I am going to Germany with my travel permit on tuesday, and I really hope they will let me back in when I return end of january.
There are all kinds of fears I have, but I think its natural.
One fear is missing the interview date.. another that they have some whacked up FBI files and decide that I may be a terrorist.
Pretty rediculous..
Nobody can grant her that she can return, the final decision will be at the officer at the border.
But having a pending AOS and an AP is a pretty good chance that things run smooth.
greetings

We travelled before the AOS interview and had no problems. The INS
folks at JFK knew exactly what travel authorization meant. I wonder if
it hasn't been this smooth for others. Granted, the travel
authorisation would be a stupid process if it wasn't honored.
If anyone knows of any problems with this, chime in...
