Complete timeline K1 Visa until Green Card
Hello,
As it could be beneficial to all, I'm posting our real-life complete timeline until
the receipt of my spouse's Conditional Green Card. I hope this hepls others in their
endeavours, especially if they are from Bulgaria or the surrounding region, as when I
was searching back a year ago, I found very little specific info.
* September 29, 2001 129-F Packet sent USPS to NSC
- October 1, 2001 Packet received at NSC
* October 16, 2001 Date of First Notice of Action
* November 14, 2001 Date of Second Notice of Action
- November 16, 2001 Called INS hotline and found out petition was approved, but
not cabled
- November 20, 2001 Faxed & e-mailed US Consulate in Bulgaria with a request to open
a provisional file
- November 21, 2001 Phoned US consulate and was told they don't open
provisional files
- November 26, 2001 Contacted Washington's U.S. Senator
- November 26, 2001 Contacted US Consulate with a 2nd request to open a
provisional file
- December 3, 2001 Received reply from the Senator dated November 27
- December 6, 2001 Phoned US consulate and was assured they will promptly send the
paperwork to fiancée
- December 7, 2001 Fiancée received packets 3/4 in mail
- December 18, 2001 Fiancée was called by the Consulate and scheduled an interview
(apparently when they received the diplomatic pouch from NSC)
- December 20, 2001 Fiancée passed medical exams
* January 2, 2002 Fiancée was interviewed in the US Consulate and issued a K-1 visa
later the same day {A total of 96 days from the day I express mailed the petition
to NSC to the successful interview in Sofia}
* January 13, 2002 Arrival in Seattle
* March 31, 2002 Wedding in Las Vegas
* April 8, 2002 Applied for AOS and EAD in person at USINS Seattle District Office
* June 10, 2002 Interviewed for EAD Card at USINS Seattle District Office. Card
issued the same day
* August 2, 2002 Interviewed for AOS at USINS Seattle District Office. My wife
granted a Conditional Permanent Resident status
- August 18, 2002 Green Card received in mail
