Default change of address

I have all my papers ready to file for an I 485 at the office in Denver, CO, my concern is that I might be moving from Colorado to Philadelphia and I don't know what would be the process to change my papers to the office in PA. Does it take a long time to forward the papers from office to office? Does it alter anything?
Thanks

Hi,
here's my personal experience: it's PAINFUL! Both my lawyer and I
filed AR-11 (change-of-address) forms for me seperately, in June 2002.
INS _still_ sent my EAD to a wrong address that I've never lived at,
when it was approved in Aug 2002. Fiiiiiiiiinally after my lawyers
talked to them, they sent it to my correct new address in Jan 2003.
And I am still waiting for my GC, having applied for it in May 2002.
All this in California.
I'd say hold off filing for I-485 till you know whether you're going
to move. I'd be glad to be proved wrong by other newsgroup readers
who've had better experiences!!

I moved after submitting I-485 just a a few miles, however into a
different INS District, in 1995. I had to submit a written request to
the INS Service Center in Nebraska to transfer my files and it delayed
my interview date by about 6-months (the INS office in Indianapolis
where I originally submitted the application functioned then like a
the customer service center of a private corporation - a pleasant
surprise, but still). The Cincinnati office also put me on hold for
three months after the interview. I don't know whether things changed
since then.

Don't do it if you don't have to. Wait until after your move unless
the lost time differential can be made up in the new office's faster
processing.

Cheers,

-George
