Hope someone will help.
I am a Canadian (Programmer/Analyst) married to a US citizen (who now is a Canadian
permanent resident) and need to find out how we can relocate to the states. Can my
father in law sponsor me? Can my wife just go back and get a job?
Thankyou in advance for you help.

Well since your wife is a USC she can sponsor you, with regards to your father in
law, the only thing he can do is be a co-sponsor for the affidavit of support.
However if you both plan to move to the states, she can file i130 for you and you can
file i485 with supporting documentation at the same time. At the same time you can
apply for employment authorization which will allow you to work while your case is
being processed.
If you get the employment authorization you may not need your father in law's income
on the affidavit of support because you both will have sufficient income by the time
of your interview.
