Default Can you start a business on H4

Hi,

I know you cannot work on H4. But can you start your own business and make
profit from it.

Can you manage your own business or would this be considered as employment?

Thank you,

It would be unlawful employment. All you could do is invest and have someone who can work in the US to run everything. You can't contribute to the operation of any commercial entity as an H-4. It would have to be totally 100% hands-off.

I knew an author with an H4 who had all her books published through a
foreign publisher and was paid in that country. Of course, all the work was
done in the US, but she got away with it. She later got a greencard.
