Hi all;
Your help is very appreciated: This is my story
In 2002 i won the lottery, i went throught CP and got the
immigrant visa which will expire by january. i will move to us on
november but want to come back asap to finish some work in the home
country. My questions are :
1- Can i come back just after i get I-551 stamp in my passeport.
2- will there be any problems in the port of entry when i will return
to usa.
3- How much time can i stay in my home country befor returninh to usa.
By the way i would like to stay in my home between 6 months to one
year.
4- If i want to stay in my home for more than 6 months but less than
one year, what should i do?
Thank you very much for your feed back

Once you have the I-551 stamp in your passsport then you can come and go as you please, however if you have to stay out of the US for more than a year, you need to apply to the INS for a re-entry permit, before you go. Do bear in mind, however, that thime spent out of the US will not count towards your residence requirements, if and when you want to naturalize

Yes.

Maybe.

You might be able to do that.

You should apply for a reentry permit before you leave the U.S., even if you
are not planning to stay out more than a year. I think it will help. The
reentry permit should be sent to a U.S. address, and then someone should
send it to you by safe mail.
