Default Calling all outstanding NVC-ers since March

Hi All,

I was wondering if any of the following people have had their file processed through NVC yet....

dhs
Pourya
Jerry
Zoonoo
Libbee
Sj

Any word anyone? I'm on day 28 there, they told me mine would take longer than 4 weeks. I was just wondering how the outstanding people were doing....

Wishing you all good luck!

Rene -

My I-129F (for K-3/K-4) petition was approved on March 11, 2003, the NVC received the approved petition less than a week later and the name check still hasn't come back. My wife and stepdaughter are citizens of the Russian Federation. I have sent two letters to my US Senator, one on July 19, 2003 and the next on August 11, 2003. Now that it has been over 150 days since the petition was approved, they are clearly out of a reasonable window. If my home town senator doesn't get some results soon, my other senator will get a similar letter to the last one I sent. These guys are providing very inconsistent results (the Records Management Division of the FBI) and I am going to find a way to light a fire under them, in a very polite and diplomatic way, of course. Those of us who are going through this process with spouses/fiance(e)s from countries where the name check is a big issue would do well to keep in touch and do what we can to help one another out. It is very useful to know the time-lines of others who are similarly situated because those stats can be used to beat the FBI's RMD over the head. They are currently claiming that they are clearing 98-99% of all requests in 120 days (according to a written statement submitted to congress by Robert J. Garrity, Jr., the acting director of the RMD) So, either this guy's misrepresented the facts or something is up. Either way, something needs to be done. Stay in touch.

Lara and I flew through NVC. We arrived on 7/21/2003 and I reveived a
noticed that said we were approved on 8/5/2003 and the documents have
been forwarded on to Moscow.

The only think I can think of is that I have been bonded and worked
for several Federal Banks and Lara is a Judge in Russia. I know the
FBI knows about me because of my helping track down cases with
internal bank fraud, money laundering, and bank robberies. Because of
both of our positions, neither of us can have a bad record, so I knew
we would both come back without a hit.

We were just probably lucky though....

Hope it isn't too much longer for ya!

Thank you for your responses. I passed day 30 yesterday, so NVC was right in saying mine would take longer than 4 weeks. Neither Sadegh nor I have had a criminal past, and he's never been to the states so no overstays, deportations or anything like that.

When I called NVC Friday, the rep said she couldn't tell me what kind of checks are being done, since they don't do them themselves at that facility. It's just a liaison between the service center and the embassy, at which time security clearance is processed.

If anyone else has spent a lot of time at NVC, please let me know...and thanks for your well wishes :-)

Hi Rene,

Sorry for the delayed response. A close friend recently passed away and this
is the first time I've checked the board in over two weeks...

I'll be at Day 60 in about another week at the NVC. I've given up calling
them because as you pointed out they have no new information to give out
anyway. There is a web site for K1/K3 visas from China and there are many,
many horror stories about people who went in for name check last year and
still haven't gotten a response. Granted this is before they put the new
procedure in place in March but it makes 60 days look like nothing... Times
like this makes me wish I had friends in high places, or at least could
afford to rent some... :-)

Is there a Dave Hollis-like site for NVC info? Maybe we can get him to add
some new columns to his database...

Jerry

Hi Jerry,
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, my prayers are with you. Also I was hoping you'd have gone through NVC by now. :-( I have an NVC timeline excel spreadsheet I've made up that I'd be happy to email to you, but I'm not computer savvy enough to make it into the format where everyone can go add their own information.
Why do you supposed it takes so long? Do they request information from overseas and it takes them that long to respond? Or is all the checking done here in the states?
Please keep us informed of your progress, and hang in there.

Hi Rene -

I would appreciate it if you would e-mail that spreadsheet to me as well. I am collecting evidence that will suppport my claim that our case should have been settled by now. We are at day 150 and counting at the NVC. I am presenting this information to my US Senator's staff this next week in an attempt to convince them that our case merits some sort of inquiry. Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and effort.

Richard,
You can also refer to following site for all sorts of timeline. I think it is as good as any Excel Spreadsheet. Good luck with NVC. I am also waiting for about a week now.

Ahhh, yes! Tenni's site! Yes, that does have NVC in there as well. Actually, there is a link to that site, on my personal website, in my timeline :-) Thanks for sharing. :-)

Hi Rene,

Thanks. She was a very close friend
(http://www.jerryliu.com/kaylillibridge) and she was looking forward to
meeting my fiancee and showing her how to get around in America.
Unfortunately this will never happen now... :-(

Here is a recent (July 2003) FBI testimony before Congress which explains
the FBI's visa name check process.

http://www.fbi.gov/congress/congress...rity071003.htm

They claim to resolve 99% of the visa name check requests within 120 days.
Anecdotally, I'm seeing about a two to three month NVC delay for China visas
under the new post-March system, though there are folks who have gone over
four or more months without a resolution. There just aren't enough data
points to really say how long the process will take for folks from the
'special' countries since the process is new. With my luck recently, I'll
probably end up being one of late ones...

I would like to see a copy of this spreadsheet that you have assembled. If
it would be helpful, I can set up a simple page where folks can update this
information themselves if you don't mind typing all that stuff in again...

Jerry
