Cable vs pouch... which consulates do what?

Hi. AS most of you know, I filed through London and just got my 2nd NOA... what I was wondering is, I've seen a lot fo the SCs cable the Notices to the Consulates and some put it in the doucment pouch.. doesn anyone know who does what? Would it help if I fed exed my notice to London once I recieved it or do they definitely have to wait until the US Service Center sends it to them. HAs anyone who has gone through Nebraska and London have any experiences they could share (ie, how long it took between 2nd NOA and London receiving the Notice). We have our provisional file open and of cousre, are anxious to get the interview date ASAP so Greg can get his cute little bum here quickly!

Hi Beyness,

It depends on the service center...the VSC cabled our petition to Vancouver, and my fiance got the confirmation and packet from the Consulate one week later. I don' t know what the NSC does...but each service center seems to have its own procedures on cabling vs. diplomatic pouch. :D

Well, I can just hope NSC cables it. :)

Hi Beyness,

The way I found out mine was cabled is it said on the INS status page that it was cabled, faxed etc. to the appropriate consulate or port of entry (?). I wonder if you could even fax the approval letter to London to get things started?
:D

Thanks juliet, I'll try that. My status page still just says the case has been approved (which is better than what it used to say! :) ), but I'll keep checking and when I get the paper, I'll fax it to them... do you by chance know how I can get the Consulate's fax number for that dept?

Ken petitioned for me through Nebraska. I was told by the lady at the US Consulate in Colombo that my petition came via diplomatic pouch......it took just two weeks. She also told me that the frequency of the pouch was like once a month. So my assumption was that Nebrakska and then the NVC got it to the pouch at just the right time. By the way, Nebraska sends the approved petition to the NVC and they forward it to the Consulate.
But I have also heard that the pouch is dispatched with much greater frequency to countries with which the US has trade relations etc. And I would imagine that Britain is one of them?

When we got our 2nd NOA from NSC, we emailed London. They responded that it
could take "up to" four weeks before they get notice and that if we just
sent them our original, that would start the process. They said that way
they didn't have to wait for the notice to come from the service center.

I sent it along with the packet, since I didn't know about the provisional
files (NUTS!) They received it and we are now waiting (and waiting and
waiting) for the results of the FBI check.

So, it would certainly seem you could Fed Ex it with a reference to the
provisional file.

Thanks Dana. I shall do that. I'll make a few copies of the precious thing when I get it and fedex the original to London... do you know what address to Fedex it to? Is it the same one Greg sent the forms to for the prov. file?

Unfortunately I didn't keep the address. But I'm pretty sure it was the one
from the London Embassy website.
