Default Bogota Interview

Hello,

My wife just received her interview letter (packet 4)from Bogota,
Colombia, with an interview date of July 1st. The letter states you
can reschedule the appointment through a written letter. She feels she
needs at least another month to gather required documents and such.
My question is, can she request a new interview date or is the ‘new'
date set by the embassy office? And are this requests always granted?

Many thanks in advance!

They will give her a new date. I guess she is free to suggest a date when she will be available and they may even honor that request. Buena suerte!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she send in a checklist or something
(Packet 3) that said she had all the documents she needed for the interview?
I didn't think they would schedule an interview without that.

You're right, Eric. You do have to respond to the embassy after you get Packet 3 - that's why they send you PAcket 4 with the interview - because they figure you're ready. I think a month is plenty of time to round up any documents you need.

Right, but the OP said his wife got an interview date, but didn't have all
the required documents yet. I was wondering why she sent in the Packet 3
checklist -- stating that she had all the documents required for the
interview -- when in fact she didn't.
