biometrics???
 

I have my biometrics appointment tomorrow, would just like to know what happens at it. I know you get your finger prints taken. Just wondered if there's any other exciting things that happen. :)

Also is this a sign my application is getting processed quickly or does it slow down after this?

Yes! They also take your photo! LOL Other than that, that's it!

Actually, they might take a digital copy of your signature too. I think they did, and it appears on my Naturalization Certificate.

No DNA swabs, if that's what you're thinking!

Not that interesting lol. My biometrics appointment at a USCIS field office went as follows - Filled out a form with some biographical data and information about hair color and eye color. Had my fingerprints captured several times via livescan, photo was taken and had my signature digitally captured.

Worth noting the picture they take is the picture that will appear on any card you are issued. In my case that was my EAD and GC.

As an aside: it is possible to go in on a biometrics appointment on another day [e.g. earlier] or even a different ASC [say for a kid attending university 2000 miles away from the family home].

Take the original I-797 ["NOA" in BE-speak] so the Dark Forces can scan the thing. Also, recommend not to go in at opening hour or during lunch. If there is a line, come back later.

Indeed, I did this and did not have a problem. The biometrics technician asked why I came early but that was it. I did read that it varies from office to office, some will accept 'walk-in' appointments, while other are more strict and will tell you to come back at your scheduled appointment or submit a request to reschedule.

Among immigration lawyers, we have noted that the ASC's are almost always pretty flexible on these things as long as one does not hit them when they are busy with scheduled cases.

Also, I've know of some people who have gone in late -- I was delayed in getting it, I was sick, etc etc. The idea in that case is to get in before the Dark Forces deny the case for non-compliance.
