Best strategy for US citizenship

I would appreciate advice on the best citizenship strategy. I need to
decide if to get US citizenship through my GC status or through my
marriage.
I received my marriage-based unconditional 10 year GC in November 2004.
I become eligible to apply for citizenship through my marriage in May
2005 or through my GC status in May 2007.
My wife is considering separating me and can do that at any time.
Should I apply in May of this year or wait until 2007? What are the
risks / benefits of these two options?
I see several questions :
What if I submit my citizenship application papers and my wife decides
to separate shortly afterward?
What are the worst possible consequences if at the BCIS interview my
wife presents me in a negative light? (like "he married me to get the
citizenship"?) Can I still get citizenship in 2007?
What if the separation happens after the BCIS interview, but before
citizenship is granted?
Can my wife prevent me in any way from obtaining citizenship in 2007?
Many thanks.

If it were me, I'd wait until you've had your green card five years. If you
file after having it only three years, you need to stay married until you
get your citizenship, and from what you say, your marriage might not last
that long. Then you'd have to file all over again in 2007 anyway, paying all
those fees again.
What is your reason for needing citizenship? Are you hoping to bring family
members over or something? If you feel you desperately need citizenship
quickly, you could take your chances.
