Apply for S.S. before or after marriage on K1
I remember reading that K1'rs were able to get their SS card, depending on the office, before getting married by just showing their passport/visa with the i-94 stamp.
I plan on trying this with my fiance but wanted to check to see if I should wait as I remember there being some debate over this but don't remember the details and can't find the thread.
thank you.

We applied for my then fiance's SSN a few days after he arrived and before we were married. I remember reading somewhere on this site that it is better to apply before marriage, so that's why we did it. It took us about 5 weeks for him to receive his card in the mail.
Your fiance will also need to show a certified copy of his long form birth certificate. We didn't have one the first time we tried so we had to go back.
Anyway, good Luck on yours

I did it without any problem whatsoever.
Your fiancee will receive a Social Security Card with her maiden name.
If she's changing her name, she would have to renew after you're married.
I think the SSN isn't the problem, it's getting the 90 day EAD in a timely manner...
