Send the AP to the Chicago lockbox.

Er, well, that's true. But the Chicago Lockbox is, how you say, the
front end for the NBC, so AOS petitions that get sent to the lockbox
will eventually end up at the NBC, where they will be put into A files
along with the riding EAD and A/P applications. As you have correctly
observed, NBC will adjudicate the EAD and A/P applications, but not the
AOS, which will get remoted to the relevant district office when called for.

Also correct that renewal EAD and A/P applications will be filed with
the NBC (again via the lockbox), not with the district office.

Processing times reflect the oldest case on the shelf, meaning the date
of the oldest case that has not yet been pulled by an examiner. This
does not necessarily mean that it's the oldest case in the system. For
example, if a case is pulled by an examiner, interviewed, and there is a
problem with documentation or security checks that takes a long time to
resolve, the case could actually be older than the oldest case shown on
the processing time report.

Yes, that is a well known fact. It is on the USCIS page or at least it was in the memo when the Chicago Lockbox was first introduced.

The movement of the petitions are:

Chicago LB where petitions are checked and checks processed; petitions sent to the NBC for EAD and AP processing and biometric scheduling; documentation sent to district office when DO is ready to schedule AOS interview. If AOS processing takes a year or more; sometimes the petitions/documentation are sent to the national records center for storage and called for when AOS interiew availability open at the DO. After successful AOS everything is sent to the NRC for storage and if the AOS was for CPR will be sent to the service center when or if required for the adjudication of the I-751. Same scenario for the adjudication of the N-400.

The OP was, of course, NOT interested in knowing all of this but needed to know that they were to send the petition to the Chicago Lockbox address and NOT the NBC address.

However, thank you for your contribution to the thread.

I think that I might have missed part of the thread because as you know
I post from the Usenet.

I had the impression that the OP wanted to know which office to check
status with online, and how the applications flowed through. If one
knew the relationship between the lockbox and the MSC, then one could
gather from your answer that the EAD and A/P statuses should be checked
using the NBC report and that the I-485 status should be checked via the
local office. But if one thought that the lockbox and the MSC were two
different places, then the status checking information might not have
been clear. (The "where to send it" information that was also
requested is quite clearly expressed in your response.)

I'm new here (although not to alt.visa.us, the Usenet group that
parented this one), and I do apologize if I stepped on any toes.
