Default AOS via NYC/ATL - Very annoyed and concerned!!

So here I am, almost 30 months since filing AOS/EAD/AP in NYC in May 2002.
All I received in return re: the AOS was the yellow till receipt about a
week after filing. No confirmation letter that they received my
application, nothing. About a year after filing I moved from NY to Atlanta
and filed the necessary change of address forms with NYC, Atlanta and the
AR-11 with London, KY. Again, no formal confirmation that any one of these
received the change of address notification. I since changed address again
about 8 months later when we bought a house. I last visited the Atlanta
district office in June of this year. They confirmed that they had my new
address in their system but couldn't vouch for NY. I have an appointment in
a couple of weeks with Atlanta to get an interim EAD since it's been over 90
days since my renewal and I plan to ask them again to a) confirm my address
in their system and b) to see if they can give me any information about the
status of my application. I'm also going to NY for New Years so I'll be
making an appointment to visit the NYC district office. Surely either one
of the two can put my mind at ease. My major concerns is that my 2 change
of addresses didn't get processed correctly. Is there anything else I can
be doing to confirm what the status of my application is?

I don't begrudge anybody quick processing times on their applications but
it's very VERY annoying hearing these stories about people getting approved
in NYC within a few months when I've been waiting for 2 and a half years.
It juse doesn't seem fair to the (most likely) thousands of people who have
filed AOS in NYC in the last couple of years. Ok, rant over :)

BTW - since filing in May 2002, I have renewed EAD and AP twice. Why do
they feel the need to charge the filing fees for each renewalk and then
continue to raise the charges every year? Ok, I'm done. I promise this
time.

Mike
