Hi
Its been a while since I posted here, but we're just about to apply
for AOS.
Has anyone gone through the Portland office recently? I was wondering
how it went/how long it takes etc.
I've read that some offices will only give out Advanced Parole for
emergencies - I really want to get one so I can go home to have a
wedding party for my family in England - should I be able to get this
in Portland and how long is advanced Parole taking at the momemt?
Also, is it defintiely worth filing in person rather than posting the
application especially with regards to time frames for Advanced Parole
and the EAD?
Thanks
Lindsey

Lindsey.. what POE did you use? when our K-1 application is complete it'll
be helpful to know what your experience was like...
Thanks in anticipation

Hi Bee
I entered in LA - we lived there at the time but soon moved up to Oregon.
Entering the country was amazingly easy - I thought I was going to be taken
aside to go through everything but it was actually quicker than entering on
a visa waiver. They just took my brown envelope opened it and stamped it,
stamped my passport a couple of times and that was it.
We went up to Portland yesterday. We had to wait quite a while but we went
late morning so maybe that's a bad time. The lady was very nice and checked
I had all the paperwork. She said that the AP is taking about 10 weeks at
the moment though because they have a backlog![Sad](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/sad.gif)
She said I could get my EAD on the same day. The computer wasn't working so
they shouldn't have given it me but as we'd travelled about 1 1/2 hrs to get
there so she said they would do it anyway.
She also gave me back my fingerprinting fee saying I didn't need it for a
K-1 - hope that doesn't cause problems later.
Good luck with the K-1!
