AOS, NYC
Did anybody who filed for AOS in New York District office in May, 2002
receive anything yet? I filed my application on May 13, 2002, still
waiting, though they claim to process May 9, 2002.

See the prior thread on this. It appears there are still people waiting from before May 02....

Hi! I'm actor Troy McClure. You may remember me from such threads as

Hi. I filed 19th April 2002 and I got my biometrics/fingerprinting
letter last week.
Claire23 got her fingerprinting letter around the same time, though
she filed in Feb 2002 if memory serves.
I would say that the dates published on the USCIS website are ballpark
at best. I would allow a few months either side to be sure.
Cheers,
Marco

If I may - you should definitely make a formal inquiry.
I don't mean to worry you unduly, but I never received a copy of my
fingerprinting letter at home. I was very fortunate in that I am using
a lawyer throughout this process, and the USCIS sends duplicates of
all letters to my lawyer. If it weren't for that fact, I would have
been blissfully unaware that I was supposed to report for biometrics
and eventually my case would have been deemed abandoned.
I don't know your situation but I would say 30 months without a single
letter from NYC USCIS would be a major cause for concern.

Marco

Yep, Marco's right.
Btw, I went to ASC in the Bronx for fingerprinting. Not much people. I finished in 30 minutes. I'm supposed to have my appoinment on March 4th but went as a walk in today and got it right away.

Good for you. I'm planning the same thing next week at Brooklyn.
Incidentally, when I made the appointment, I was given a reference
number by the operator. Did they ask you for that reference number at
your Bronx walk-in? I'm a little paranoid about doing a walk-in and it
somehow not being 'linked' to my AOS application, if you see what I
mean.

Re: AOS, NYC
I was given a confirmation number when I made the appointment and told the security I have it.
Why, what do you think could happen if someone just showed up there without an appointment?

Re: AOS, NYC
Hi,
NYC received our AOS app on May 24, 2002. We received a NOA this week
to make an appointment for fingerprinting.
Does anyone know how long it's taking between fingerprinting and
interviewing in NYC?

Ah, the golden question!
You, I and Claire23 all got our fingerprinting notices within a few
weeks of each other, so we should definitely keep each other posted.
Do me a favor - got to the USCIS website, go to Case Status Online
link, and plug in the MSCxxxxxxx number on your fingerprinting notice,
and tell me what it says. Mine doesn't work for some reason (can't
find my receipt number - this happened to me before with my EAD and it
took about a month for them to fix it.)
Claire23 did this and it said that it would take 120-180 days from her
notice date (Jan 29 2004) to process this case, after which they would
mail a decision.
My feeling (hope?) is that it will be quicker than this. I can't
believe that they will just mail an AOS decision without an interview.
Anyway, Claire23 just did her biometrics so she'll probably be the
first to get an interview date. Whatever is the gap between her
biometrics NOA and her interview will probably be a good indicator for
us too.
If you get an interview appointment, please let us know!
Cheers,
Marco

Well, I was wondering if the confirmation number was just to show you
had a genuine appointment for biometrics or whether it's somehow used
to 'link' your biometrics to your AOS application.
I have visions of doing biometrics and then MSC not associating the
biometrics with my AOS application and then deeming it abandoned.
Yes, totally paranoid. That's what two years of dealing with
INS/BCIS/USCIS does for you! ;-)

Re: AOS, NYC
The new updated processing time for AOS/NYC is now February 2002.
In January it was showing May 2002. I'm definately going to opt for consular filing when my I-130 gets approved.

Re: AOS, NYC
Nobody has heard from anyone that has received there AOS in NYC recently?
I'm dying to hear from someone that has just reached the finish line.
When I check the Case Status Online I also get the stupid '120-180 day'
number. We are really hoping that this is not accurate.
I will definitely let you all know if we get an interview date.

Re: AOS, NYC
Hey lets keep this thread alive. Good source of information for NYC AOSers.
Our AOS submission date: August 15, 2002
Status: On 2nd EAD, nothing from USCIS regarding fgprints,
or AOS interview yet.
Any other NYC AOSers around this date?
