I have my AOS interview this coming Thursday, but there is a little problem. My
consulate hasn't returned my renewed passport, (it has taken over 2 weeks now!).I
even spoke to the local consul and she was not even helpful, by the way they only
work Mondays from 9:00am to
10:30am !!! .. anyway...

should I go to the office and ask to reschedule the appointment, or just go on
thursday without it and hope for the best (hoping that the officer will let me take
the passport next week). The consulate told me they would have the passport by Friday
or Monday next week.

*sigh*

I would definitely keep the interview date.....who knows when you might get a second
one. Go, tell them what happened, and hope for the best! Good Luck!

Keep the interview date. You may not even get the stamp in your passport at that
interview. If everything goes successfully, you can just bring in your passport and
get it stamped any time before you get your "green card".

Well Jonathan, you were right, the AOS interview was a sucess, and I didn't need the
passport, eventhough the lady (officer) did ask for it at the beginning, but what
could I do if the consulate hasn't returned it grrrrr....

Anyway, I did get a letter from them so I can go back at any time and get the stamp.

Hi,

I can understand how you feel. I was in a similar situation. My passport had not
returned on Friday and my appointment was for Monday. I had to travel 5 hours to San
Francisco so my husband and I had decided to leave on Saturday afternoon and spend
Saturday and Sunday night with friends. I called the British Embassy and after a lot
of talking and arranging with the Embassy and Fed Ex. I did manage to pick up my new
passport from the Fed. Ex. office on Saturday morning. I asked the lady who
interviewed me what would have happened if I didn't have my passport. She said it
would not have been a problem because my fingerprints had not been cleared yet and so
I was not going to get the stamp in my passport that day anyway. I had to go back to
get the stamp about a month later. So, it depends whether they intend to give you the
stamp at the interview, and even if they do intend to I expect it will just mean that
you will have to go back later to get it instead.

Good luck, Irene.
