AOS Interview Question

Hi all,

Got our interview notice today, our process has been very quick.

We got married legally last year with the intention of having a real wedding both here and back in the UK in 2018 once I've been able to work a little and actually give us time to schedule and afford a 'real' wedding.

Will this likely be a problem at interview? We have evidence of planning a 2018 wedding in both countries however curious if this could be an issue when it comes to 'who was at your wedding' type questions.

Secondly, I don't have a criminal record - Do I need to procure something to this affect for the interview or do I simply answer the yes/no questions under oath?

Re: AOS Interview Question

Your "legal wedding" IS a "real" wedding, and I am not sure why you would think otherwise?

If you are legally married everything else thereafter (other than a legal separation, divorce or annulment) is irrelevant. You can plan a conga party in Times Square and dress in grass skirts to renew your vows in Piccadilly Circus, but that has no bearing whatsoever on the fact that you're already legally married.

You need a criminal record search (IIRC from every country you have lived in for at least 12 months, as an adult) to "prove" that you don't have a criminal record.

And that's all that matters. Your marriage certificate proves it!

Gotcha, was just worried it may doubt the authenticity if it was a court house wedding.

Did you enter on a K-1 visa, or did you adjust from some other non immigrant visa?
