This such a great site and I'm so glad to have found it.
My husband is a citizen of the UK and we married in April 2002. We initially went the way of the fiancee visa, but someone in Nebraska decided to file us "inactive" and it took my congressman to get the ball rolling again.
Then I recieved a notice that putting "n/a" wasn't acceptable and that I had to write "none." That was pretty irritating.
After that it was just too late - Philip already sold his house and left the Military - so we married during a visit and hired an attorney to represent us for Philip's Adjustment of Status.
Philip successfully got his work authorization and is working full time, but now we're up against the first (gasp!) interview with the INS where we get to convince them that our relationship is genuine.
I'll be honest and say that we're both a little nervous. After all, our marriage depends on it and that's pretty important!
I spent the day making copies upon copies of our bank statements, insurance policies, etc.
Does anyone have any comforting words or advice? You can keep your horror stories at bay - I can't really handle anything like that!![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I appreciate it!

Our AOS interview was a real breeze. We went armed with loads of prove and they never asked to see any of it. I figured they knew from the answers to the questions, that our marriage was bona fide. Just basic stuff like address, parents names etc. Or they may have taken 1 look at the legal envelopes stuffed full of proof and thought, well they brought a lot of stuff, they must be ok. Over and done with in under half an hour, including stamping the I-551 im my wifes passport. We were very anxious, because you hear all the bad stories, but it was a brezze and I think if you search this newsgroup for posts about aos interviews most people have been the same

Actually there are few horror stories when it comes to the final AOS interview. In the five years of being a part of the forum, I don't recall more than a handful and they were horror only because of foul ups, i.e. inadequate I-864's or agents that wanted three years of over the 125% rather than just the most current one, etc.
Bring what you can as proof of your marriage comingling finances and social lives and don't worry that you don't have enough. Be sure to bring your original documents and copies, giving them the copies and you retaining the origihnals.
Read the experiences pages for your local INS and I'm sure you will be much relieved.

I spent the day making copies upon copies of evidence too for our interview later this month. I think it's natural to be nervous, I know we are! I'm just trusting the fact that anyone with half a brain cell can see we are a genuine couple, especially since we have the cutest baby girl to prove it!
