Default AOS interview at INS san francisco + 3 more background checks

I and my wife has AOS interview on August 26,2002 in INS San francisco office.
Everything went well. At last the officer told us that 3 more back ground checks are
pending(I got finger printed on July 24, 02). He gave us a letter saying

"Your appln for status as perm resident has been retained for processing. you will be
notified when further action has been taken in your case.

If you change your addy, marital, or employment status, notify to this office
refering to the above file number. To avoid DELAY in the processing of your
application. PLEASE DONT CALL or WRITE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE CURRENT STATUS OF
YOUR CASE".

The form no: I-183.

What is this? seems to be kinda harassment?

Yes they do. However, it usually ends with until six months (or whatever) has passed.

Hi John

I can not give you any advice in this matter, we are having our AOS interview in SF
in September and we are very nervous.

Please, post some more information about the interview: How long was the interview?
What questions were asked? What are they looking for? What is your background: K1 or
AOS from another visa status? How soon were you interviewed after the fingerprinting?

Thanks, joe

My timeline: Status: F1->OPT-EAD->H1B->AOS. Got married in Nov. 2001 Jan. 2002: Filed
for AOS Aug. 6, 2002: Fingerprinted. Sept. 2002: Interview scheduled. AOS letter
arrived on Aug. 7, 2002.

What is this new procedure? (6 months after interview). Seems to be another couple in
this newsgroup complained about same thing.

The questions he asked us:

Where did u meet when did u meet when did u marry what documents u had for me.
Photo-s. evidence of joint living et al.

There was another officer questing a couple like "did u have romance before
marriage?..Is that strange..do you guys have joint property.. et al". Seems to be
this officer is bugging too much.
