Default AOS Interview...hope 3rd time is the charm

Here is alittle recap, my husband had his aos interview last month, we were told we needed a co sponsor. We found two, one his Uncle and the other his Aunt. His Uncle didn't seem like he really wanted to help out and his Aunt was more willing too. We thought we'd use his Aunt, whom never got us the paper work back. Thought it's okay because he had all of his Uncle's paper work. His Uncle put everything in a sealed folder, we asked if everything was there and were told yes. We went yesterday, turned all of the paper work in. Our nice officer said the 2003 taxes weren't included...had 2000-2002. We thought his Uncle made a mistake, but he has an extension on the 2003 (why they never told us this I have no clue). His Uncle is a dentist and owns his own clinics, I told them we needed proof (business license, tax returns, dentist license, ect)...his Dad told me no, it was fine. So, my husband gets to go back and show these forms, but since the 2003 has an extension it doesn't look like it will work out. My husband finally got a hold of his Aunt, whom said she had some personal emergency (when we couldn't get a hold of her) has everything done. We will go get the paper work from her this Saturday, and I will make sure before that she has everything (I don't need to look closely at her taxes) included. Looks like she will be the new co sponsor. My husband trusted his family to make sure it was all there, told him he should of checked before it was sealed. I hope the 3rd time is the charm.

Forgive me if I sound insensitive, but I think your attitude is a bit crap. By your own admission, his uncle was extremely reluctant to be your joint sponsor, but he eventually agreed to do you this favor anyway, although hesitantly, since he sealed the documents. Then you're angry and resentful because he didn't complete it correctly?

Completing an I-864 can be confusing even to those who are directly dealing with the immigration process on a daily basis. That's why people are constantly asking questions about it on here. So it sounds a bit like looking the gift horse in the mouth to me.

That said, I sincerely hope this third interview works out for you. Good luck.

Jenney,

Your right when I went back and read through what I wrote it didn't sound good. I am very greatfull for my husbands Uncle's help. My husbands father is whom I am angry with. He handles all of his Uncle's taxes and filled out most of the forms for him. We heard his Dad talking to his girlfriend, his Dad told her that he doesn't want his son getting a green card before him. His Dad never liked me to begin with because I am white and not from a rich family. His Dad said he's being paying 1000s of dollars in lawyers fee's for yrs, only for his son to marry something he hates to get his green card faster. His dad knew the 2003 wasn't included, so my husband couldn't get approved. But, his dad does not know, his Aunt on his Mother's side will help us out. I just don't understand how a father can be so hateful, and sorry again for the last post sounding bad.

I'm sorry to hear about this difficult relationship you (and your husband, I imagine) have with your father-in-law regarding your marriage. It sounds like he has a huge chip on his shoulder and is trying to take it out on you. Ultimately, however, he ends up hurting his son, which is most unfortunate. It's so sad when parents put feeding their need to feel superior ahead of their children's happiness.

I honestly hope the aunt's paperwork is all ready to go -- make sure you look at it carefully! Best of luck to both of you.
