AOS Interview Experience in Sacramento
We had our AOS interview today and wanted to share our experience. Our
appointment was for 9:15 AM and arrived at 8:30 AM. We put our appointment
letter under a window with the rest of them and then had a chance to go have a
coffee before we were called up. We got called at about 9:25 and were
instructed by the officer, Mr. Garcia, to have a seat. Never did see any video
recording equipment anywhere. The had our folder in front of him and starting
looking at the papers and just reconfirming some of the data in it. He asked me
if I had ever been arrested outside of the US and I answered yes, to my DUI
back in the early 80's. He wanted to see the arrest report, which the police
will not issue to you in Canada, but I did have my Pardon papers, which he was
happy with and went and took a photocopy of it (so much for photocopying about
40 sheets of evidence for them LOL). He asked our home phone number, where I
worked and what type of work I did, and to see some evidence of our marriage.
We had copies of the phone bill, credit card statements, and house insurance (I
am not on the mortgage papers yet, waiting to file income Tax first). We gave
him the copies, never wanted to see any photographs. He took out my I-94
Departure Record from my Passport, handed in my EAD card and gave to the famous
stamp in my passport. He then told me that I would be getting a 2 year green
card within the next year and then I would have to file the I-751 90 days
before the 2 year anniversary of getting my conditional permanent. So I guess
for the next 2 years we don't have to worry about any more interviews or
applying for an advanced Parole. The whole interview took about 30 minutes.
