Default AOS Interview, EAD Question

Hello Everybody,

I had an AOS interview yesterday (Jan 11) in Garden City, NY. The interview was very simple. The examiner told me that everything looks fine in my case she would have approved the case if my back ground checks were finished. She informed me that it should not take more than 2 months to receive the Green Card. I am hoping I will receive the card soon. My EAD is going to expire in April, do you guys think I should go ahead and apply for EAD with out waiting for the approval. One more question, Do I need to have the physical EAD card to work or is it fine If I just apply and wait for the card when my old EAD is expired. I am working in a company where they dont check for the EAD as I am working here for a long time. I just dont want to break any law. My assumption is that If I apply the EAD before it expires I should be fine, correct me if I am wrong.

If you will sleep better at night, go ahead and file. If your GC comes in time, great. If not, you'll have already applied for another EAD. At most, you'll be out the filing fee.

Your EAD expires on a specific date - after which, you are no longer authorized to work. If your company doesn't check, that's their problem. Yes, the new EAD should be backdated, but I wouldn't risk it - but hey, that's just me.
