AOS interview: do we need police rpt from USA?

I heard a rumor that they are now asking for police reports from the USA at the AOS
interviews here (I am in Florida, and my wife is Russian). Is there any truth to
this rumor?

No it is not true. The INS will conduct what is known as an IBIS name check on the foreign spouse along with the mandatory FBI/CIA fingerprint report. This is all that the INS requires.

It makes sense, if they are living in the US. But, I haven't heard of it before.

They require only what the law specifies.

You must be fingerprinted as part of the process (actually many offices don't do this
for K-1ers) and they run the FBI check from that.
