Hi all, just thought I'd let you all know that we went for our AOS interview
today in Cherry Hill, NJ and was approved!
Wife came in as K-1 March 2003.
The whole thing took less than a half hour. We showed the AOS interview
letter and Driver licensese / ID to be let into the security checkpoint,
where we opened our bags and went through the metal detector. After
dropping off the interview letter at the window, we went and sat down. We
read the newspaper while waiting to be called.
Our DAO was John L, a friendly and efficient fellow. Wife had her
fingerprint taken and we were taken into an office, sworn in and then we sat
down. Most of the questions were very simple:
1) What is your name, address, where do you work, your parents' names, etc.
2) How did you meet?
3) Have you ever been married / divorced?
We also showed the updated I-693 form in a sealed envelope, an updated I-864
Affidavit of support and tax returns (along with W-2 and pay stubs) and the
wedding album. After all this was done, he told us that we were approved
for AOS and put the I-551 stamp in her passport and said it would expire in
2 years. A conditional permanent resident card would be mailed out in 1-2
months and told us about the new photo requirements. Thanks to members of
this NG, we knew about the new photo standards and produced them, he took
them and seemed quite happy. (Hope this speeds up the card production
process). We actually prepared an entire package thanks to Rete's
guidelines, but the only thing he took was the financials section (I-864) to
add to the existing file. We packed up the rest of the 'interview package'.
The officer then explained that we need to file after 21 months for I-751 /
Removal of conditions. Yeah!

Congratulations on your wife's success. Now to enjoy the next 21 months of peace and quiet. When your wife gets her greencard in the mail, she can go to the SSA office and have the legend removed from her SS card. Can do it with the stamp in her passport, but personally, I see that people with the actual card have less of a time wait for the new card to be issued and mailed to them.
Happy Thanksgiving.

An update to this AOS interview trip report.
Got the actual Permanent Resident Card today in the mail. It is very cool
looking, with all these hologram features on the back and also a special
carrier is enclosed to protect the card.
Even though we submitted the passport style picture, the actual card had
printed on it the former ADIT 3/4 type photo, go figure!
Timeline:
AOS I-485 application submitted 3/2003 NYC
AOS biometrics 12/2003
Moved to NJ in 12/2003
AOS interview and approval 11/12/2004 (got stamp in the passport)
Permanent Resident card received 11/20/2004
