Default AOS forms question...

Hi everyone...

My husband (the US Citizen) and I are about to fill out our AOS forms.
We have one question though.

On the forms where it asks for my name do I give my married last name
or my maiden last name?

Thank you in advance for any answers.

Sincerely
Cleo and Dave

I used my new married name and under "other names used" stated my
maiden name and married name from my first marriage....no problems.

Hi,
I was told to put your married name on all the paper work. And then
some others have said that where they ask you "any other names" you
can put your maiden name so that is what I did. I put my married name
where they asked my name, and other names I put my maiden. That way
all your stuff will come in your married name, which of course you
want Hope that helps!

give your married last name. You are now legally married! Make sure you get
your s.s. card changed as well as any other i.d. and bank info too as soon as
possible!

Contrary to Frank's reply re you are now legally married. In the US as in many countries of the world, a woman does not have to assume her husband's surname after marriage.

On INS forms put down the name you are intending to go by for the rest of your married life. If you are using your husband's surname put that and under other names put your former name.

As for changing your name on SS cards, Driver's Licenses, credit cards, etc. most agencies require an original certified marriage certificate in order to change your surname.
