AOS Fingerprinting, Question
Hi! For AOS fingerprinting appointment, do I need to bring my passport with me, or my
driver's license (and EAD card) will be enough as forms of ID?
Appreciate any info. Thanks.

Re: AOS Fingerprinting, Question
I took mine but it wasn't required (I used my driver's license). Technically so long
as you have your EAD card with you, you fulfill the law on having your registration
document so you don't tend you need your passport very often.

Re: AOS Fingerprinting, Question
Hi Andy,
I showed somebody my EAD card the other day and they pointed out to me that it says
on the back :-
"This document is not evidence of citizenship or permanent residence in the
United States."
So he said that it did not count in his eyes as a registration document.

Correct. In fact, if it is still valid it's evidence the holder is *not* a US citizen
or permanent resident!
> So he said that it did not count in his eyes as a registration document.
Fortunately your friend isn't the arbiter of what is considered a registration
document. See 8 CFR Sec 264.1 (b) which lists the documents, including:
I - 688B, Employment Authorization Document. (Added effective 10/4/96; 61 FR
46534)
http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/lpBin/lpext...-9511/slb-2693

Dennis
Your friend is correct, the EAD is not proof of your permanent residency status. It is proof, however, of your pending PR status as to qualify for one you must have an I-485 pending. The I-551 stamp and/or green card is proof of that.
Of course, it is not proof of citizenship. However, it can be construed as a document of proof on non-citizenship (in the US that is).
The EAD card can be used as identification simply because it has your photograph on it as does your driver's license

Re: AOS Fingerprinting, Question
When I got mine I was asked for both- my passport and my EAD. It won`t hurt to take both.

Re: AOS Fingerprinting, Question
I was fingerprinted in Boston today. They asked to see EAD and some other form of
documentation (passport in my case). It took about 3 hours, but at least you can
leave and come back later once you have a numbah!

Re: AOS Fingerprinting, Question
I have a question here, when you all were talking the EAD card, is that the one that was issued after you filed your AOS? I just got my fingerprint notice today for next week's fingerprint appointment, however, I still do not have my EAD yet (I married a USC, not thru fiancee visa tho as I was holding H-1). Should I receive my EAD before fingerprinting appointment??? or which come first doesn't matter??
