If we go in person to file our AOS paperwork with our local immigration office which
by the way is New Orleans. Will they issue the EAD card the same day ? Were not sure
if the port of entry that Clive is going through will issue the temp.

The answer is NO unfortunately. It can take up to 3 months before they issue one. It
depends on your local office. I have no information on New Orleans. I went to
Louisville, ky. it took them about 40 days.
But it`s still a good idea to file in person though. They`ll tell ya immediately
whether all your paperwork is ok or whether something is missing. And you`ll get a
receipt that they got it. Just be prepared for a long wait at the office. Took me 2
hours before it was my turn, and than another 2 hours before they took my
fingerprints.
Don`t know what your POE is, but i made a little detour through JFK. They usually
give you a stamp there, especially if you arrive during office hours.
good luck

Why did you bother to answer Shelia's question with a NO if you don't have any experience with New Orleans and/or no of any other poster who has?
Your experiences Louisville, KY cannot be applied to other INS offices countrywise.

because i thought i had the freedom of speech
i checked out the site where it gives the waitingtimes for EAD`s ... it said 7-90
days ... so i thought a NO was warranted ... but saw it hardly worthwile to mention
this, because 7-90 days is a pretty ridiculous estimate, goes from fast to slow,
might as well say nothing.
sorry to try to help, won`t happen again ... i forgot this is YOUR newsgroup
