AOS for DV2003 in San Jose, CA
Hello all,
Does anyone know how long the INS office in San Jose, CA is taking to process
Adjustment of Status for people in the DV program? I was registered in the dv2003
immigration program, and I've been wondering whether to file for Adjustment of
Status through the San Jose office or go through a consulate. The San Jose office
has a reputation for being very slow, and I'm worried they may not process my
application in time.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Re: AOS for DV2003 in San Jose, CA
Hi,
I've won the DV-2003, and I'm wondering whether to go through AOS or
CP. I'm actually thinking of going through CP because I think if you have your
documents straight, the chances of rejection are almost zero.
http://www.imminfo.com, outlines very nicely the pros and cons of both processes.
Because the lottery is under time pressure, and especially with the new
restructuring of the INS, I don't want to risk having to wait for long delays and
the anguish that goes with it, until my AOS comes through. Also, INS officers who
do AOS have greater autonomy and descretionary authority during AOS, than do
consular officers who process if you go through CP.
It's a tough call.
