Default AOS Due But lost Thai Birth Certificate

Help?

In October, my Thai fiancée arrived on a K-1 visa to San Jose, CA. We
got married in December. As part of her Adjustment of Status
application, we need to supply her Thai birth certificate like the one
we submitted with the K-1 visa application, but this other copy has
disappeared.

We asked her mom to get another one and send it. It just arrived and
it doesn't even remotely look like the one we submitted. The one with
the K-1 is brief; two small pages xeroxed onto one sheet. The title
based on my wife's translation is 'Registration House'. It contains
place of birth, personal number, date of birth, and was 'signed' (just
typed) by someone with title of authority.

The one her mom sent looks like a big table. Each row is initialed. It
doesn't look like a birth certificate. More like a medical record, but
what do I know.

From reading the newsgroup, it sounds like there are different forms
of birth certificates. The one I need is the one used for getting her
visa.

She was born near Nahkon Sawan. Her mom or sister have no idea where
to go for this although it seems they are not being very energetic
about this. So maybe someone can help:

1. What is the type or name of birth certificate we need?
2. What office can it be obtained at. Where does one get it.
3. Should it have a seal or stamp or something official looking? Even
the K-1 one looked unofficial compared to US ones.
4. Can her mom or sister get this. I read somewhere that only she
could get it.

I thought I had all the details done and was focused on giving her a
great wedding. Now I realize we might have a huge problem.

Huge Thanks in Advance.

Well, it sounds to me like the one her mom sent you is the correct
birth certificate for the AOS. The "House Registration" is useful for
the K-1 interview, but not really needed for the AOS. Don't worry
about the fact that it doesn't look very "official". My wife's birth
certificate has no seal or special stamp. The only thing it does have
is a signature from the local amphur to certify it. Is there anything
like this near the bottom of your wife's birth certificate? Also,
you'll need it translated for the AOS. If you find out this isn't her
"official" birth certificate, her mom will need to go to the amphur in
the province she was born in (the same place they originally got the
house registration from). Good luck with it.
