Default AOS approval w/o interview

Timeline--(St. Paul Office)

--married 7/03
--applied for AOS 8/03
--rec'd notice for medical exam, completed and mailed 1/04
--rec'd letter of congratulations for AOS being approved.....letter also included appointment for wife and step daughter to fill out a form (I-751) and instructions to bring usual frickin photos.

It appears that we jumped ahead in the process and that perhaps they are waiving procedures in cases that they deem to be low risk. This letter for the first time referenced Homeland Security/BCIS instead of DOJ/INS. Maybe there is hope that the process is being revamped. On the other hand, maybe this is a mistake......I won't know until 2/13.

Does anyone have knowledge of such an event as this?

Our situation is similar, but with the Louisville, KY office.

We filed on 9/11/2003 and were told by the officer that we would need an interview. She said we would receive an approval letter in the mail when the case is adjudicated (and assuming it is approved!)

I've heard this before, but not often. There are a few Louisville filers that experiences the same thing. Try doing a search on the NG and see what you come up with.
