Default AOs approaching in april, no ead or SS#

could this be a problem at the aos interview?

certain things like Credit cards require SS#s and even though i had my fingerprints done at least 7 weeks ago no ead appointment yet...

i already had trouble with our joint lease, having 0 income and no SS# for them to use for a background check.

help would be appreciated.

Why haven't you gotten your SSN if you're eligible?

Regards

You have not said under which Visa you entered the US on.
If it had been a K1 Visa then you could have applied and got your SS# as soon as you had arrived.

And the fingerprints were for your AOS - not for the EAD - as you do not need to do anything more than have your photo taken and give a single digit ink print to get an EAD - which is produced the same day as the aforesaid.

The Privacy Act regulates the use of SSNs by government agencies. When a Federal, State, or local
government agency asks an individual to disclose his or her Social Security number, the Privacy Act
requires the agency to inform the person of the following: the statutory or other authority for
requesting the information; whether disclosure is mandatory or voluntary; what uses will be made of the
information; and the consequences, if any, of failure to provide the information.

If a business or other enterprise asks you for your SSN, you can refuse to give it. However, that may
mean doing without the purchase or service for which your number was requested. For example, utility
companies and other services ask for a Social Security number, but do not need it; they can do a credit
check or identify the person in their records by alternative means. Giving your number is voluntary,
even when you are asked for the number directly. If requested, you should ask why your number is needed,
how your number will be used, what law requires you to give your number and what the consequences are if
you refuse. The answers to these questions can help you decide if you want to give your Social Security
number. The decision is yours.

Where are you filing?
Even if you got your EAD and SSN next week it still doesn't give you much time to get Ccards, joint leases etc.... since you may not get a job right away.
Do you have a joint bank account with your husband? Other things you can take are proof that you are on his medical insurance, that you are a beneficiary for his life insurance/pension etc. Proof that you live in the same place (letters addressed to you or both of you). Take some notorized letters from family and friends stating that they know you are in a relationship. Look for other things that you can take to your AOS interview - this site has many examples of things people have taken - and many people take much more than is actually required to prove a happy and legitimate marriage.
I'm sure they are used to things like this occuring.

Hi:

Why should it be a problem? In fact, the Dallas District of CIS just announced a pilot project starting next month where the idea is to COMPLETE the adjustment in less than 90 days -- the CIS has EXPRESSLY stated that one of the ideas of this is to eliminate the burden of issuing interim EAD's.

You have reasonable explanations for lack of various documents.

Remember that you have to produce a reasonable scenario showing bona fide marriage. For example, on the joint lease issue -- I had a case approved 10 days ago where the USC wife owned her house prior to marriage and that is where they live -- so no joint lease. We had one of the tougher DAO's in Los Angeles who, previously had never approved any of my cases at interview -- and she seemed to be impressed that each spouse knew the names of the details of the other spouse's children from their prior marriages. Case approved at interview.

To repeat -- don't focus or obsess on any particular document -- the list is a suggestion.

i'm not on the insurance because his company only allows new people to join once a year, august would be my next chance.

WE had a long attempt at savings account but the best we could get is them treating it like i was a visitor who wanted to open an account, i just became frustrated with the whole thing.

I guess they might as well get rid of the "interim" deal, since they can't execute their own policies.

thanks for everything, time to round up original documents.

Be careful. That Annual Enrollment Period for medical insurance may
not be what it sounds like- he may not be able to add someone to his
coverage at that time! I know that sounds strange, but you better
contact the insurance company, not the HR people at his employer, and
tell them exactly your situation.

Most often, someone can be added only if, and when, there is a
Qualifying Event- like a birth or a marriage, and it has to be done
within 30 days of that event. A significant change in residence (like
arriving in the US) or employment can also be a Qualifying Event.
