AOS appointment rescheduled by the USCIS?
I had posted a few weeks ago in reference to my wife's AOS appointment
being made right after we had moved and not sure if our AR-11 form would get our paperwork transferred to our new local office. Well, about a week later they sent us a new appointment time for our new office (and it was even earlier than the original appointment!) So today we headed out on a five hour drive to our new office in Boise to get a temporary EAD since its been well over 90 days without any notice now. We get to our office (if anyone wants an awesome USCIS office, move to Idaho because there was absolutely NO wait compared to the Florida offices that we used to go to) and we ask if we can get a temp card and they tell us that the work permit had been sent out on May 1st, about 8 days ago. So that's lovely and all after taking a day off work and finding out we went for no reason. While we were there, we asked about our AOS interview, the guy had it up and saw that we had one scheduled and asked if we couldn't just wait (for the EAD) until the greencard came. Interesting comments. So the bet was if the EAD card came in the mail by the time we got home, I would have to pick up the puppy's poo tonight. Well, sure enough a letter from USCIS was in the mail. Except it wasn't the EAD card - it was an appointment cancellation notice for our AR-11 appointment that was JUST set up last week. They just said it was their fault and they'll have to reschedule. Has anyone ever had that happen to them? For what reasons would they do this? One curious thing is that Idaho got word of our address change well before we sent letters to the Orlando office saying to transfer our files. Could this be possibly why they cancelled the appointment? How would they have known to schedule an appointment if they didn't have our files, though? Also, the letter for the cancellation was dated May 2nd - and the EAD card was supposed to be sent out on May 1st. Tell me how that works - is it the USCIS or the post office? lol. Any comments about any of this would be helpful at this point. |

Thanks! That's a bit of a relief.
