Hi all, it's been a while since posting due to the whirlwind of moving to the States and finally getting married
We were married nearly a week ago now (31.10.18) and it's time to start the AOS process. I have looked online at the USCIS website for the guidelines etc and just wanted to ask a question on something I am unsure about and that the hive mind here may be able to help?
They ask for a 'Copy of your government-issued identity document with photograph', I am guessing this will be the Green Card when I finally get it sent through?
Thanks in advance

Think about it. If you just entered the US, you don't have any US government issued identification but you do have a UK government issued one. As Rene said, your passport. The petition needs to be submitted before you are eligible for a green card so it wouldn't be the green card. Like with the K-1, don't over think it.
BTW this is still valid from our wiki: https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Adjus...-3_Spouse_Visa

Just be mindful of the name on your passport. If you changed your name when you married and you would prefer your green card be issued in your married name, it may be worth applying for a state ID to use in place of a passport for this application (I've never done this, but I assume one could provide their marriage certificate as proof of their name change when applying for a state ID).
Last year, while going through the CR-1 process, I was advised that whatever name I use on my green card application would be the name written on my green card. It transpired this was incorrect, and despite putting my married name on all my forms, my green card was issued in the name on my passport - my maiden name. I was told by the fellows at USCIS that this is normal, but to be honest there were so many mix-ups with my green card that I don't know what's true anymore. It's not the biggest issue in the world, but my SSN was issued in my married name, so the conflicting information causes all manner of confusion, especially for employers.
Just a heads up in case the name issue is important to you. From what I understand - at least in PA - you can obtain a state ID by paying a small fee (here, it's $50), and you're issued it fairly promptly, I've been told within a week or so.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, but that has been my experience.
