Anybody had to use assets instead of salary for sponsors obligation?

Thank you all for your responses.
We received my wife's greencard stamp this morning
in Los Angeles.
I filled in the assets part of the I-864 and took
paper work to corroborate the info.
However, the officer took the form, took a look at our
tax returns, and didn't look at our other supporting
doc. at all. He went in the back, came out about 15
minutes later, passport in hand, already stamped.
It's my guess that he reviewed the tax returns and could see
we were in good standing and also, the evidence of a
salary thru the W2.
The officer was courteous and the experience was not too
initimidating. When we went today, the huge room with hundreds
of seats was virtually empty. When we went last Monday, it was
packed, and I think almost everybody had a lawyer.
We were one of the few without one.
