Any recent timeline experiences for I-751 processing letters?

USCIS cashed my $680 application cheque 3 weeks ago and as of yet still no confirmation of processing letter.

I travel back to Europe at least once a month so that letter is pretty essential for me (not to mention my NJ drivers license expires same day as my green card).

Not that concerned yet (still have nearly 6 weeks till it expires) but just curious if anyone has done their recently?

Hi, NOC ... you have posted in the wrong forum. I am having a mod transfer your post to the correct forum which is the marriage-based visa forum.

Neither has Petrified Expat who posted the same yesterday. You both seem to have the same timelines.

Wow, I had to go look at the USCIS website to verify that fee amount. That's almost as much as the N-400 fee! Just wow.

I don't recall it being that much a 4 years ago, that is pretty steep.

The funnier part is that the processing time is now 18 months so I'll be able to apply for, and likely get, citizenship before this even finishes processing. LOL

That actually isn't quite true. The I-751 must be adjudicated before the N-400 will and one usually forces the other, so you won't be a USC before it's finished :D

Well damn, that's a pain in the ass. Guess I'm probably not voting in 2020 then! haha

If the N-400s timeline is shorter than the I-751, when it comes up for interview it is noted that the I-751 needs to be adjudicated, then the I-751 is called up from the salt mines to be adjudicated and dealt with before your scheduled N-400 interview. See 'zzzmark' on this forum a few threads either above or below you depending on responses to his and your threads, who has run into this same problem and is now facing difficulties with getting his I-751 approved due to lack of evidence of his continued, commingled financial life with his lwife so his N400 cannot be approved.

Interesting - I appreciate the explanation.

UPDATE: they processed my fee on 6th Nov - and have sent me a biometrics appointment letter dated 23rd Nov set for the 12th Dec. GC expires 6th Jan.

...still no processing letter. Flying out of the country again today. They like to remind me my green card is expiring soon every time I come back in. haha

Thanks for the honourable mention. ;)
I was a tad naive going into the N-400 interview expecting the officer to adjudicate my I-751 upon only the strength of bringing my wife along. Despite furnishing evidence initially I didn't consider that because USCIS sit on that evidence for over 12 months that the first thing they do when looking at it is state that it's out of date. :banghead:
I really should have trawled the immigration forums for info prior to the interview, as I did prior to and during the CR1 process, never assume that once you are in the country that immigration procedures are any less bureaucratic!

As for the 12/18 month I-797 extension letter/s, both of mine were not dispatched until after my green card and 12 month extension dates had expired. I believe you'll just get an 18 month extension as USCIS now officially recognize that they don't process anyone within the 12 month period. I believe you will be best served by making an infopass appointment and having your passport stamped rather than trust to officialdom sending you paperwork in a timely fashion and thus avoiding international travel woes!

Hi,

I am PEP who was mentioned earlier. Yes, I can confirm that my GC has now expired, my fee was taken and biometrics have been completed. My plan is to give it two months (until Dec 22nd) before following up on the extension letter. My guess is I will have to make an infopass appointment to get a stamp in the passport to replace the letter (that is still a guess though).

Let me know how it goes, or when you get yours!

Re: Any recent timeline experiences for I-751 processing letters?

When I filed back in January I received my extension letter within a few weeks, but that was for 12 months. They then sent me another letter to tell me they would be extending it to 18 months, and then waited 2 months before actually sending the 18 month extension letter! Apparently just processing the extension letters is overwhelming them, so I'd say getting an infopass appointment and stamp is a very good idea.
