Default Any Recent Houston AOS timelines?

Hi I had applied for AOS (marriage based) in Nov 01 @ the Houston
office. The initial letter said that I will be fingerprinted close to
my interview (the letter actually said that after the fingerprinting I
should hear from INS within 3 months on my interview date). I got my
finger printing done on August 14, 02. I have not heard from them. I
recently moved so I do not know if mail is the problem. So if any one
has any recent update on when they filed in Houston and how long it took
them I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

You don't want to hear how long my wife has been waiting for her AOS
interview at the Houston INS, it will just depress you. However, her
case had a problem last year that we finally sorted out so her
timeline is not typical even for the 'old k-1ers' who filed at Houston
before they started expediting K-1 adjusters there last winter.

Recently, she was fingerprinted at an ASC unit in Houston on July 3rd.
We are still waiting for the AOS interview letter to arrive. So don't
feel too bad about your wait, it seems normal (at least to me). I even
went back there to do a status inquiry on her case in early October
and was told her fingerprints had cleared the security check and she
was just waiting for an interview date. We have been living at our
same address throughout this process.

In the last few weeks it appears as if INS offices throughout the USA
have begun a new security check process for AOS interviewees. People
are being told they have passed their interview but must wait on an
additional security check before they can get the I-551 stamp in their
passport, and receive the green card shortly thereafter. I've read two
recent posts here that said the Houston INS is doing the same thing.
So my guess is that the Houston office is having to divert some
resources to this new procedure which is causing them to lag a bit on
scheduling AOS interviews. Just my opinion.

About moving, the Houston INS does have a bad reputation for losing
track of people after they move, even if the proper notification is
sent to them, so if I were you I would double-check with them that
they have your new address on file.

Regards, Tim
