A slave will always be made to work hard. That is why your H-1B
buddies work lots of overtime with no pay. If they protest, the
threat of deportation whip is cracked, and they shut up and go back to
slaving again.

Then who is to blame? America did not become great by luck and
chance. India did not become poor by luck and chance.

Because we can pay you $10 an hour instead of paying an American $50.
We imported you because you are CHEAP, not because you are smart.
It's the same reason computer parts and Nike's are made in China.

I would legalize prostitution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is so much fun to pay legally for erotic pleasures. What is you
problem? You don'y cheat on you wife? Do you masturbate? What, you do
- than you are cheating on your wife so what does it matter if you pay
for a whore or masturbate? You are still cheating on you wife,
girlfriend, boyfriend.
American corporate pimps recruiting IT prostitutes from foreign lands
becase THERE IS NO AMERICAN WHO CAN HANDLE IT JOB PROPERLY. WE,
AMERICAN WANT TO MANAGE AND MAKE DOUGH- NOT TO WORK. SO LET PEOPLE
FROM OTHER COUNTRIES come here to do jobs rhat requir basic math and
code writting.

It's so funny. YOu just proved my point why we don't need foreigners
to do our work.

Corporations hire foreigners because they are cheap not because they
are skilled.

This is a silly argument. If I wanted cheaper labor I would ship all the
jobs outside the US in the first place. This is done all the time and
the practice has probably affected more US jobs that all H-1B applicants
put together. Why do IBM, Motorola, HP, etc all have labs in India? Some
even have labs in China now.

If you're so against "cheap, foreign labor" simply get the laws changed

I work with plenty of native Americans who work lots of overtime with no
pay. That's the nature of some jobs. There is no "one size fits all"
argument. Few companies have to threaten deportation (do you actually
have a job in a company that employs anyone from outside the US?). They
simply have another round of layoffs and people disappear. Happens every
day.

But the difference is that they have a choice in the matter. H-1B's
have no choice in the matter. If they complain, they can be laid off
or fired and will be sent back home. H-1B's will do anything to stay
in the U.S. and this means enduring a few years of slavery.

Yes as a matter of fact I do. I am a manager of several consultants
and among them are a few H-1B's. Companies cannot outright tell their
H-1B's that "slave away or I will get you deported". But many of them
imply that if they don't work extra hard that they will find someone
else to do the job, and the rest is understood.

you sound like a racist to me. btw, did *slaves* pressurize US
congress for H1-B rules or was it an inside job?

the fact that it is in the new world with lots of land & natural
resources.

INS had a bar 6 yrs back of ~$37000 p.a + medical for approving H1-B
petitions and it was raised subsequently. so this is just another
piece of propaganda.

I paid taxes coz it was deducted at source just as americans do.

I cant vote because Im not a citizen.

didn't have to. there is a program called express visa approval where
the co. employing a person can send the application to the US
consulate for stamping by post and it will be returned within a week's
time. this is done usually for large cos. wishing to send their
employees to their US branches. but Im not sure if it has been
scrapped after Sept. 11.

that's between the employer and the INS.

cost of living is v. high in U.S compared to India, so lots of
laid-off H1-B workers preferred to leave voluntarily to cut down on
expenses than under threat of deportation.

    > a person whose freedom is determined by the status of his visa, etc.
you have nobody but lawmakers and their financiers to blame for this.
tell them to scrap the H1-B visa so that they won't exploit
foreigners.

    > Sounds like a slave to me.
you sound like a racist to me. if this is what the anti-immigration
lobby is made of, then I couldn't care much about it.
    > Then do whatever it takes to make your country a better place to live.

did someone ask you for any help on this?
    > ----

H1-B workers are non-immigrants. immigrants are the ones with green
cards and citizenship. what you do with your own people is not of
concern to me.
