Its well worth it!
depends which route you take, coming over on the K1 visa v heading to the UK on marriage, K1 would be more pricey, it's redoing the same thing to get the petition, the visa and then change of status essentially.

It might matter. As the USC, you will be required to meet the minimum poverty level income for your household size plus the immigrant. You can go to www.uscis.gov, Immigration Forms, I-864P to see what this figure is. You'll need to look at the 125% column for your household size. If you don't meet this level of income, you can also use a Joint Sponsor who does.

I have no idea what the income level requirements are going the other way (immigrating to the UK).

Simply because the economy is so bad in the USA, it might be worth considering moving to the country where more money is already earned. If you don't earn a whole lot, and he has trouble finding work in the USA, you might run into financial difficulties.

Can't remember if it was you or someone else that mentioned the SO working in security...if it's anything highend he might struggle if there's a need for security clearance because it's hard and expensive to get, and even a greencard holder can't get that decent of a level.

And in this economy, I wouldn't count your chickens on how easy it is to find a job, especially when there's no US work history.

If he's got a good job now and you don't, it's probably better he keep his job unless he can secure something before moving over.

Ask yourself this: Would it be better for him to continue earning the amount he earns in the UK and you move there.....or would it be better if he earns minimum wage in the USA and you have to use a joint sponsor to get him here?

The financials are the most difficult part for a lot of couples. If you sponsor him here on a K-1 Fiance visa, not only will you have the costs of the immigration itself (budget around $2000) and you (USC) needing to show sufficient income (+/- $18000 annual income for 2 people), significantly, there is a 3-6 month period of time after arriving in the US when he will not have employment authorization. And then he needs to find a hiring job.

Save up sufficient funds before starting to avoid extra stress.

Unless he's a physician and you live in a medically underserved area, I wouldn't be so sure!
