Default Almost ready to mail I-129F and I need a few answers....HELP

Dear Group...

I am so glad I am not alone in this process, thanks to all of you.

I need your help with a few questions...

1. How many emails do I send for proof of our relationship? Weve
amassed over 100? I am also submitting my fiance's email index which
summarizes our contact.
2. I have a few snail mail love letters..are copies okay to submit? I
don't want to part with them.
3. I'm submitting a copy of a brochure from our sight-seeing boat ride
of the fjiords in Norway. I also don't want to give the original if it's
not necessary. do I need to?
4, Do I need to make a signed statement about the authenticity of my
photocopied birth certificate? And, which photocopied items do I need to
do this for ( eg plane ticket/boarding passes etc.)?
5. I don't have physical proof of any wedding plans ('cause I don't have
specific plans as of yet)..is that okay at this point?

I know I'm being very obsessive...but any help you can offer would be
so, so appreciated.
Thanks,
elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

You can submit copies of any photos, broshures, etc.
I didn't submit anything original.

here is what i submitted:
1) photographs of us 2 together, they weren't dated since the camera had a
date.
COPIES of photograps, i kept the originals and my fiance will be taking them to
interview.
2) Don't send 100 emails, just pick out the ones that make most sense and show
validity. I submitted 1 email ONLY which stated to my fiance i am going to
visit him in September and another of him saying he can't wait to be together.
3)Photocopied the pages on my passport
which showed entry to and departure from Beirut,Lebanon. Stamps were dated my
first visit in Aug. 2000, and recent visit in Sept. of 2002.
4)I wrote a brief sypnosis on how we met and how our relationship evolved in
the past several years, he didn't write anything. If you have one from your
fiance that's great send it along with a statement from you, VERY IMPORTANT
since you're the USC and filing the petition.
5) 2 Copies of phone bills, and about
50 used phone cards, COPIES ALSO.
my fiance is bringing the originals to interview.
6) Of course, personal documents pertaining to both your identities.
All that i mentioned was submitted in a
COPY FORM, nothing original.
7) Copies of my airline ticket, copied it b4 my travel. Didn't save my boarding
passes.

As for your birth certificate, don't worry about the notary. My last name is
spelled
different on my birth certificate then what's on my citizenship and passport.
I thought i would get an RFE, but no problem went through. I guess they have a
way to verify
authenticity.
Anyhow, best wishes to you and you're not being obsessive, it's a nerve racking
process but you'll make it. By the way,
i recieved my approval today.

Good luck,
Mimi

Dear Elizabeth,

I will only be able to answer soe of your questions, but the expertise of the others will probably guide you better than mine

Concerning my case,

To prove the existence of our relationship, I sent them copies of the airplane tickets i used to fly from MTL to WDC, a print-out of e-mails of the past 2 years (nothing naughty of course ), photocopies of "snail mail" letters and a photocopy of a picture we took together.

As for the letter of intent, it did not specify any wedding plan as we don't have it planned yet.. sometimes in oct. of 2003 but that's still pretty far away

I hope it helps

Cheers

1) I would just send a couple of each either snail mail or email. I would just make photocopies of them to send and have the foreign person in this relationship have them on hand at the interview, in case the embassy officer wants to see it.

2) & 3) I don't think you need to send the brochure. If I were you, I would sent photos of you two together. Get reprints done, and send the reprints. Photos are more of a testimony to meeting.

4) Yes there is a form about photocopies. I forget what it's called, but you should be able to find it on the INS website. I received it when I ordered by forms over the phone. You just do one form for all documents in the package. Birth certificate, plane tickets, phone bills, emails, etc.

5) you don't need to have specific plans...just a statement of your intent to marry... Something like I ______ blank am free and willing to marry ____ within the 90 days after his/her arrival to the US on the K1 visa.
We incorporated it into our letter, which was the letter of intent and statement of relationship (how we met, how long, how we want to be together, etc)

I used this website and the FAQ one

www.k1faq.com

and

www.kheryn.com/k1/i129f.html

hope this helps and good luck

I do hope that you are sending proof that you have, indeed met. Like photos
of you together. A Brochure only shows that you picked up the
brochure somewhere....

I dont think you need to send a signed statement of the authenticity of
the photocopied proof.

What I send was (as I recall)

Copies of bording passes of the airline trop

Copy of my Passport (page 1) and the page showing the
immirgration stamps (arrival and departure) for the philippines

Copys of any receipts. In this case it was for a resort we went to with
her nephew (as a teenage chaparone.... for two adults hehehe.)

ORIGINAL photos of us together. Some shows me and her together,
me and her family, me, her, and her family..... On the back I wrote
who was in the photos.

A montage of the above photos I put together using photoshop - titled
'COPY - for reference purposes only' all on 1 sheet.

Copies of both of our Birth Certificates.

The required forms and documentation.

And of course the cashiers check!

Oh and good luck! Which Service Center will you be using?

Hi:

Have some pity on the INS examiner.

They actually approve most of these things.

They need to answer the following questions and make it easy for them:

1. Is the petitioner a US citizen?
2. Are both free to get married [e.g. of age and all prior marriages dissolved].
3. Do they intend to get married -- a simple statement will do the trick.
4. MOST IMPORTANT -- did you physically meet within the last two years.
5. Proof of relationship -- not all that much is needed. Index of e-mails is great. INS doesn't need the copies of the actual love letters. Joint tickets to the Fjords, fine. A couple pictures [Xerox copies are just fine].

You want to make it as easy as possible for the INS officer to say OK.

DS-1838 is one form you should send with your petition. it is the Sponsor's affirmation they will provide financial support.

The one concerning the fotocopies is called FC-029. YOU MUST SEND THIS IF YOU INTEND ON SENDING COPIES OF ORIGINALS.

Search Yahoo or Google for it. There are a bunch of sites you can print a copy of it from. Neither needs to be notarized.

Good luck.
